DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng accused the Sarawak government of misuse of power and of being unfair in the run-up to the state election by imposing a bar on some Peninsula-based politicians from entry to Sarawak.
This morning, PKR’s Abdul Malik Kassim, was turned away, and two DAP members, Teo Nie Ching and Ooi Leng Hang, denied entry on Thursday.
“Do not stop opposition leaders from entering Sarawak,” said Lim. “Last time, there was no problem under Taib Mahmud. Looks like Adenan is worse than Taib,” he told reporters in Air Itam today.
He said Adenan and the Barisan Nasional wielded an unfair advantage in the run-up to the state election, which must be held within 60 days. The state assembly will be dissolved tomorrow.
“I would like to ask Adenan to play fair,” he said. “We are not extremists, but we are barred. Where is the democracy?”
There has been speculation that Adenan would also bar Lim, his father Lim Kit Siang, and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. “Only time will tell,” he said.
