PETALING JAYA:
Another peninsula-based politician, PKR’s Abdul Malik Abul Kassim, has been barred from entering Sarawak, the third to be blacklisted this week.

Abdul Malik, who is a Penang state executive councillor, was reported to have arrived in Kuching at 9am.

DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng said on Twitter that Abdul Malik has been stopped at the airport and Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin of PKR confirmed with Malaysiakini that Abdul Malik had been barred.

Two DAP members, Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching and the DAP’s mascot creator Ooi Leng Hang, were barred from entry on Friday. Others who have been previously barred include PKR’s Nurul Izzah Anwar and R. Sivarasa, Amanah’s Mohamad Sabu and the DAP’s Tony Pua.

Opposition politicians from the Peninsula have been making plans to help their Sarawak counterparts to campaign in the state elections. The Sarawak state assembly will be dissolved tomorrow and elections must be held within 60 days.

Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem, in response to opposition complaints, said that the state government’s use of its autonomous Immigration powers was to maintain the religious harmony and peaceful state of affairs in Sarawak.
