This move was following Umno Youth’s police report which accused him of being involved in a conspiracy to topple Prime Minister Najib Razak.
According to a report in Malaysiakini earlier today, Ragunathn had admitted to being hired as Gani’s legal counsel, but had not elaborated on the matter.
“Yes, I am representing Abdul Gani. I will take instructions to institute legal action,” he told Malaysiakini.
Two days ago, Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun, also known as Azwanbro, lodged a police report accusing Gani, as well as former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Abu Kassim Mohamed of conspiring to topple Najib.
Gani, however, rubbished the claim, while Zeti said she would seek legal counsel and wouldn’t comment until then. Abu Kassim, on the other hand, said he would respond to the allegations soon.
Gani insisted that he had acted with integrity while he was attorney-general.
Yesterday, Sin Chew Daily reported that Gani would seek legal action against Azwanbro.
