In a report on automotive website paultan.org today, it was said that Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar won with a bid of RM989,780.
The sum was slightly more than the RM836,660 he paid for the F1 Putrajaya plate.
KL was set to use the “V” plate after it was reported that the algorithm of an alphabet followed by a number and another alphabet (W1A) would be retired in stages.
In a report by Malay Mail Online in May this year, RTD Director-General Ismail Ahmad said there was a massive decline in bidding for the current KL number plate sequence.
Ismail said he hoped that the “V” plate would get people excited.
The Sultan of Johor however was not the only royalty in the news today.
It was announced on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page today that the Sultan’s son, the Crown Prince of Johor, had purchased a new G650 jet, which will be delivered in May 2017.
“This (the purchase of the new jet) follows the previous G550 model being granted to the Johor Darul Ta’zim football club,” the posting read.
A picture of the jet was shared along with the post, to which many netizens applauded the Crown Prince for the purchase.
