
Khairy was among four players in the Jogo polo team that defeated Amax Polo 8-4 in the championship.
When met by reporters after the match, Khairy said it was a tough match but he was happy with his performance because it was the first time all four players were playing together in the Jogo team.
“After the 2016 Malaysian Open Polo Championship, there are three or four tournaments before the 2017 SEA Games and seven of the 12 players who played in the championship have been shortlisted for the SEA Games,” he said.
In fact, Khairy who is among the seven players shortlisted for the SEA Games, may create history of sorts by becoming the first youth and sports minister to compete in the SEA Games as an athlete.
The 2016 Malaysian Open Polo Championship, which started on Oct 10 with the participation of seven teams, will go on until Oct 23.
