Warisan draws 7,000 applications in just a few days

PETALING JAYA: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) has received some 7,000 membership applications in the few days since the party’s website was launched.

In a statement, Warisan Secretary-General Loretto S Padua Jr said due to the overwhelming response, the party headquarters was still in the midst of approving the online membership applications it received.

He said the party was currently waiting for hard copies of the application forms which would be distributed throughout the state in due time.

Loretto also said the party had yet to approve any pro tem divisional committee as it was gearing up for a statewide roadshow to promote its cause and struggles for Sabah.

He added that the party’s political bureau would meet on Saturday to discuss the setting up of party divisions in the state and other issues.

“We are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm shown by Sabahans towards Warisan and are grateful to all for the positive sentiments shown.”

“Whilst the president, the deputy president and leadership acknowledge the fighting spirit shown by our supporters who are eager to launch at the divisional levels, we shall proceed with the requisite procedures required by the party constitution and the amendments to the party’s constitution which are currently being made.”

Loretto added that those who wanted to register as Warisan members could do so at its website.

Earlier this month, former Umno Vice-President Shafie Apdal unveiled Warisan, which he will lead.

Former PKR lawmaker Darell Leiking will be the party’s No. 2 while Peter Anthony, Jaujan Sambakong and Junz Wong have been named as vice-presidents, with Loretto as its secretary-general.
