Klang Selatan district police chief ACP Alzafny Ahmad said in the incident at about 1am, the 21-year-old suspect allegedly stabbed the victim, Ong Tun Hang, 58, with a knife.
The suspect, the youngest child, lived with the victim in the two-storey terrace house with his mother and three siblings.
“A few hours before the incident, the suspect, who has psychological problems since aged 16, had a tantrum and tried to get out of the house but was prevented by the victim.
“The victim then slept in the living room near the front main door to ensure the suspect could not get out of the house,” he said in a statement here today.
Alzafny said at about 1am, the suspect’s eldest sister heard the victim scream and saw her father struggling with the suspect in the dark before the suspect escaped by climbing a fence.
“The suspect’s sister and mother witnessed the incident. The sister later switched on the lights in the living room and saw the victim lying in front of the main door in a pool of blood,” he said.
He said the victim died at the scene due to stab wounds on the back of the shoulder and left side of the body. The police forensic team found a 11.4-cm knife by the side of the body, he said. The knife is believed to have been taken by the suspect from the kitchen to stab the victim.
He said the suspect was arrested at about 9.15am at a lorry storage area in Jalan Tengku Badar here about 800 metres from the victim’s house.
The body of the victim was sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for a post-mortem, he added.
