Ikram women’s deputy chief Hafidzah Mustakim said the threats uttered by Jamal, especially those that insult women, run counter to Malaysian ideals of courtesy.
“All these insults, including threatening statements and sexual insults such as those aimed at Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin must be stopped immediately,” she told reporters here today.
On Nov 13, Jamal had promised to “repay blood with blood” after receiving a bloody nose during an altercation in Ampang.
The Umno Sungai Besar division chief had alleged that he was punched in the face by a member of Bersih as he led the Red Shirts in pursuing Zuraida at the Ampang Point shopping mall.
Following Jamal’s accusation, Zuraida on Thursday sued him for claiming that she was behind the incident.
Hafidzah said the Red Shirts’ actions had given rise to worry and tension, and could threaten national peace.
She called for the authorities to act immediately and harshly against the Red Shirts for threatening the safety of Malaysian women and society at large.
“The media should also not give the Red Shirts leader any coverage, because it will only add to the hatred and culture of gangsterism in our society.
“We, as mothers, do not want our children exposed to or to fall victim to this culture of violence now being demonstrated by the Red Shirts,” Hafidzah said.
