Perak police chief Hasnan Hassan said the investigating officer (IO) in the case needed to speak with Ngeh, who is also the Sitiawan assemblyman.
“A letter was sent on Jan 26 to Ngeh, inviting him to give his statement to a senior IO. Police are in the process of completing the investigation under the Sedition Act 1948,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
According to him, the investigation is focused on criminal issues reported by the Perak State Development Authority.
He said except for Ngeh, statements had been taken from other witnesses who had given their full cooperation.
“If he doesn’t cooperate, police will use Section 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Act 593) to compel him,” said Hasnan.
