This followed several raids which were mounted on March 6 in the Klang Valley, leading to the seizure of 10 stolen luxury cars and a motorcycle, along with 11 pieces of what was believed to be fake road tax.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lazim said the suspects aged between 18 and 38, belonged to the “Geng Ateng” which was active in vehicle theft in KL, Selangor, Pahang and Negeri Sembilan.
He said the police also seized 15 plastic packets suspected to be syabu, 24 Eramin-5 pills and a straw tube believed to have contained 3.23g of heroin.
Speaking at a press conference in the KL police contingent headquarters here today, Mazlan said the modus operandi of the group was to target luxury vehicles whose engines were left running while the drivers stopped at petrol stations.
He said the suspects were remanded until Tuesday to facilitate investigations.
