Rosmah arrives for questioning at MACC

PUTRAJAYA: Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former prime minister Najib Razak, has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters for questioning over a corruption probe related to 1MDB.

Also present were Rosmah’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa Najib, and her husband Daniyar Kessikbayev who is a Kazakh national.

Rosmah, who appeared at 10.45am, has been in the limelight since a police search of her residence turned up nearly 300 boxes of handbags, many of them luxury brands such as Hermes Birkin.

She and Najib are being questioned as part of the investigation into former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International and some RM42 million that was channelled into Najib’s personal bank account.

Najib was questioned by MACC two weeks ago on May 22. Two days later, he was questioned for another seven hours.

Najib, who was finance minister and chairman of 1MDB’s advisory board, has denied any wrongdoing in relation to the investment company and was cleared by former attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali in 2016.

SRC International is now directly under the Minister of Finance Incorporated, which also owns 1MDB.
