PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) raided 13 locations in the Klang Valley today and seized documents related to three mega projects.

Star Online reported that these were in connection with the East Coast Rail Line (ECRL), the Multi Product Pipeline (MPP) and Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline (TGSP).

It said more than 50 officers were involved in the operation that began at 10am.

MACC investigations director Simi Abd Ghani confirmed the raids.

On July 6, the finance ministry had announced it had suspended three contracts with Chinese companies, two of them pipeline schemes handled by Suria Strategic Energy Resources Sdn Bhd (SSER).

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng had also said the final cost of the ECRL was RM81 billion and the 688km rail project would only be continued if the cost is brought down.

The Barisan Nasional government had said the ECRL would cost RM55 billion.

Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) had ordered ECRL’s main contractor, China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), to halt all contract work.
