PETALING JAYA:
An aide to outgoing Wanita PKR chief Zuraida Kamaruddin said Kapar MP Abdullah Sani had breached party ethics in his attacks against the prime minister and other Pakatan Harapan and PKR leaders.

Nor Hizwan Ahmad, who is the political secretary to Zuraida, said the personal attacks by Abdullah and his wife Faezah Ariffin against the Ampang MP and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali had embarrassed both PKR and Pakatan Harapan.

“These false accusations levelled against leaders clearly betray the spirit of the ‘reformasi’ movement and the aspirations of a new Malaysia,” he said in a statement.

Faezah had blamed Zuraida for making the women’s wing ineffective.

In an event in Seremban, she said PKR Wanita – which Zuraida has led since 2007 – was not functioning as it should and cautioned members against allowing Zuraida’s allies to continue leading the wing.

“Just look at what happened after Zuraida was given power. It went to her head after she was appointed a minister,” Faezah was reported as saying.

Faezah also slammed Zuraida for her recent comments that not all of PKR’s elected parliamentarians were prepared to give up their seats for de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Abdullah had also claimed that Zuraida’s supporters have threatened to “expose” his wife following her criticisms.

Faezah has lodged a police report over the threat.

Nor Hizwan said it was even more embarrassing when Abdullah claimed that Daim Zainuddin, who heads the Council of Eminent Persons, and Dr Mahathir Mohamad were conspiring to prevent Anwar from becoming prime minister.

Prior to the 14th general election, PH leaders agreed that after two years, Mahathir would hand over the prime ministership to Anwar, who recently won the PKR presidency unopposed.

However, Mahathir reportedly said he might stay for two years or longer, depending on the people’s wishes.

Mahathir, who is also the Pakatan Harapan chairman and other PKR leaders have since demanded Abdullah to furnish proof to back up his claim that there was a conspiracy to prevent Anwar from becoming prime minister.

Nor Hizwan also took Abdullah to task for demanding those he accused of scheming against Anwar to prove otherwise.

“He is confused about the law as in Malaysia the burden of proof lies with the accuser and not the accused. If this is Abdullah Sani’s mindset, his leadership is questionable.

“I urge him to apologise to all those he had falsely accused,” said Nor Hizwan.
