PETALING JAYA:
The two stepsons of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd CEO Nazrin Hassan were detained yesterday to help in the probe into the latter’s murder, Selangor police confirmed.

Selangor CID chief Fadzil Ahmat said the teens, aged 16 and 14 years old, were detained in Taman Tun Dr Ismail at 4pm.

“We will now seek to remand them,” he said when contacted, without specifying the number of days sought.

The arrest of the stepsons comes several days after Selangor police denied a report by a news portal that the boys had been arrested.

Malay Mail Online had previously reported that the two stepsons were detained after puncture marks were discovered in Nazrin’s neck, which was consistent with those made by an arrow.

Nazrin’s wife Samirah Muzaffar was arrested earlier last week and remanded for seven days to facilitate the investigation. Samirah’s former husband was also arrested but later released.

This came nearly a month after authorities confirmed that Nazrin’s death had been classified as murder. It was initially reported that he had died in a fire at his home in Petaling Jaya.

At the time, Cradle Fund confirmed that the post-mortem report concluded he had died of complications from injuries when a mobile phone that was being charged exploded.

Fadzil said today that police have not decided whether to extend Samirah’s remand.
