De facto law minister Liew Vui Keong said the remaining 10% are in the midst of completing their asset declaration forms.
PH’s four component parties currently have 117 seats in the Dewan Rakyat while PH-friendly party, Warisan, has nine.
“Port Dickson MP Anwar Ibrahim and Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed will both be given a time extension to make their respective declarations, as they have just joined PH,” Liew said at the Parliament lobby today.
Mustapa, a former Umno minister, recently joined PPBM, while Anwar had recently won the Port Dickson parliamentary by-election on Oct 13.
“(Asset declaration) is not too complicated, they just have to remember to fill in details of their properties, and children aged above 21. We need time to collect data.
“Both Anwar and Mustapa have spoken to the MACC and the GIACC (National Centre for Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption) in my office today, and filled up the forms,” he said.
Asked if the MACC would publish the lawmakers’ asset declaration documents tomorrow, as planned, Liew said: “I don’t know, it’s not my call.”
The deadline to make public the asset declaration forms has been extended a few times.
The asset declaration papers were initially set to be published on Oct 1 but the date was later postponed to Oct 15, and then Nov 1.
Liew said PH MPs had offered good cooperation in submitting their declarations.
He also explained that the declaration would only include assets from the moment they became MPs.
“That will be the day they got sworn in, on July 11. We may review it (the declaration) on a yearly basis.
“There is not much to worry if they can account for their assets.
“Let’s say they suddenly have a property worth RM5 million during his/her five-year term in office, for example.
“If they can justify it, for instance, like inheritance, or bought from a lottery win, it’s fine.
“If they can’t justify the source of the money, then there will be problems,” he said.
Asked about MPs who have served for two or three terms, Liew said this applies to current MPs only.
