The economic affairs minister said Bumiputeras need not worry over the plan to ratify the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
He said the party had put in place policies that would ensure equality and economic justice for all races.
“We have earlier taken action so that all races receive equality and economic justice.
“The economic policy which was introduced by (incoming PKR president) Anwar Ibrahim is not based on race but based on needs. We’ve done it,” he said today in his winding-up speech at the PKR National Congress here.
He added that PKR should be proud for practising such a culture and should not bend to outside powers trying to teach the members how it should be done.
Previously, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the government would only ratify ICERD after taking into consideration the interests of all races in the country.
