PETALING JAYA: Former inspector-general of police Mohammed Hanif Omar will step down as Genting Bhd’s deputy chairman and retire from the board on Dec 31.
Hanif, who served as the nation’s top cop for two decades before retiring in 1994, was appointed as deputy chairman on Feb 23 the same year.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the group also announced that Dr Lin See Yan and Chin Kwai Yoong will retire as independent non-executive directors at the next annual general meeting in 2019.
“They are not seeking re-election,” it said.
According to The Edge, Lin — a former Bank Negara Malaysia deputy governor — joined the board of Genting in 2001.
Chin, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, joined Genting’s board in 2007.
