They are among 17,000 employers, who had not registered, that HRDF contacted but who failed to respond. The fine has not been determined yet.

In a statement issued today, the HRDF also advised those employers who had not registered with the fund to do so.

At the end of October this year, 25,438 employers had already registered with HRDF.

Earlier this year, Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran had requested employers to register with HRDF.

“According to the law, they have already committed the offence. But going to court will be our last resort,” the statement read.

Over the past few months, the HDRF has taken action against employers who can be fined up to RM10,000 or jailed a year, or both.

Employers from at least 63 sub-sectors are required to pay a human resources development levy to promote the training of Malaysian employees, apprentices and trainees.
