Haziq to be probed for carnal intercourse, distribution of obscene material
Police say the aide to a deputy minister was nabbed as he was about to fly off to Manila.
PETALING JAYA: Haziq Aziz, the individual at the centre of gay sex videos, will be investigated for carnal intercourse against the order of nature and distribution of obscene material, police revealed tonight.
In a statement, CID chief Huzir Mohamed said Haziq — who is an aide to a deputy minister — will also be probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which criminalises the use of network facilities or network services by a person to transmit any communication that is deemed to be offensive.
“He will also be investigated for intending to provoke a breach of public peace,” he said.
Huzir said that police arrested Haziq at the KLIA departure hall at 6pm.
Haziq, who is the Santubong PKR Youth chief, was scheduled to leave for Manila.
On Wednesday, Haziq admitted that he was one of two men filmed engaging in homosexual acts at a hotel last month.
The private secretary of Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said the videos, which he claimed were recorded without his permission, were taken on May 11 at the Four Points hotel in Sandakan during the recent by-election there.
He also named Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali as the other person in the video.
