Ten people with expired documents were found in a kongsi house occupied by 22 Bangladeshis, Penang immigration director Muhamad Husni Mahmud said.
The men were not qualified to be rehired under an amnesty programme. ‘’The employer should have sent them back last year but did not do so but continued to hire them to work in Malaysia,’’ he said here today.
Husni said the department would investigate the company and the owners of the premises who hired and housed them at the kongsi house. Legal action could be taken against them.
He said the foreign nationals detained were aged between 28 and 40. They were sent to the Juru Immigration Depot for further investigation and action.
