Free all those held under Sedition Act, says Kit Siang

The DAP supremo reminds Pakatan Harapan of its election pledge to repeal the 'repressive act'.

Lim Kit Siang says the arrest of PSM’s Khalid Ismath and others under the Sedition Act is ‘completely indefensible’.
PETALING JAYA:
DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang today called for the release of all those arrested under the Sedition Act and reminded the Pakatan Harapan government that it had promised to repeal the law in its election manifesto.

He said the arrest of PSM activist Khalid Ismath and others was “completely indefensible as PH had pledged to abolish the repressive act”.

“The police must free all arrested under the Sedition Act,” the Iskandar Puteri MP said in a statement.

“All police and civil service personnel should familiarise themselves with the PH’s 14th general election manifesto to know the spirit, philosophy and direction of the PH government even though laws and policies have not yet been changed.

“(This is) so that they would not act in open opposition of the PH pledge for a New Malaysia.”
