PKR troublemakers could be sacked, says Fahmi

AYER KEROH: PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil says party members who attempted to disrupt the youth wing’s congress this morning could face the sack, following the chaos that ensued at the entrance of the venue hall at the Melaka International Trade Centre here.

Speaking to reporters shortly after the scuffle, Fahmi said he was saddened by what had transpired.

The commotion erupted when former PKR Youth permanent chairman Mizan Adli Mohd Nor and his supporters tried to force their way into the hall after being denied entry.

Fahmi said Mizan was over 35 years old and not a delegate.

“His attempt to force his way in was a serious offence and I’m sure the party leadership will look into this,” he said, adding that the chaos had sullied the image of the party and leadership alike.

He added that those found to be involved in trying to disrupt the youth congress would face strong disciplinary action.

“Those found guilty of breaching party discipline ethics and refusing to listen to instructions, will be given a show-cause letter or sacked.

“If you continue to persist, we will sack you,” he said, adding that those with legitimate grouses should raise these through the appropriate channels.

He also dismissed Mizan’s assertion that he, as the former permanent chairman, should be present at the congress.

“There is no requirement for Mizan to be present.”

On claims that schoolchildren had been present at the congress while delegates were barred, Fahmi said he had no information on the matter.

However, he said it was likely an administrative issue, and that the youth congress secretariat would look into it.
