PETALING JAYA: A 12-day-old infant became the youngest Covid-19 patient in the second wave of the deadly outbreak, the health ministry revealed today.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the infant was born prior to the movement control order, which came into effect on March 18.
“We will reveal more details later,” Noor Hisham said at a press conference in Putrajaya here this evening.
Prior to this, a two-year-old from Kelantan was the youngest Covid-19 patient.
The toddler was initially supposed to undergo chemotherapy for leukaemia at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital, but this was postponed when he tested positive.
His case was revealed by Children with Cancer Support Association (Pesona) in a Facebook post.
The oldest Covid-19 patient, meanwhile, is an 83-year-old.
