PN behind police probe against me for sedition, claims Syed Saddiq

The Muar MP says police questioned him on two excerpts from the interview with Al Jazeera.

Former PPBM Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman says he was questioned about his comments in an interview with Al Jazeera four months ago.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has blamed the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government for the police investigating him for sedition and sharing of offensive and menacing content in relation to an interview he had with Al Jazeera in March.

“I don’t want to speculate but this must be the work of this government. The interview was aired four months ago.”

Syed Saddiq said during the investigation by the police at Bukit Aman, he was shown two footages from the interview.

“The first one showed me commenting that Dr Mahathir Mohamad did not agree to bring down the PH government with a government associated with kleptocracy.

“The second one showed Al Jazeera’s Mehdi Hassan asking me about a so called royal coup in appointing a new prime minister. However, I denied this allegation,” he added.

Earlier, in a tweet, Syed Saddiq said he was informed by Bukit Aman officers that he was being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.

In his March 6 interview with Al Jazeera, Syed Saddiq, the former PPBM Youth chief, spoke of his disappointment with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin for betraying the party’s founding principles by working with “kleptocrats”.
