PAGOH:
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said today contributors to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will face bigger problems in the future if Putrajaya allows them to withdraw money from their EPF Account 1 now.

Muhyiddin said there were calls for contributors to be allowed to withdraw from this account now because of the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the people.

He said the government really wanted to help the people.

“That is why we have already provided billions of ringgit to help the people.

“If the government allows the people to withdraw from their EPF Account 1 savings now, they will face bigger problems in the future,” he said at an event here.

Muhyiddin said he knew he could not advise the people to be frugal in their spending as he worried that such advice would not be well-received.
