3 new Covid-19 clusters involving Sabah, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur

They are the Mampulut, Fores and Rengas clusters.

The health ministry has detected three new Covid-19 clusters in the country over the last 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they are the Mampulut cluster in Sabah, the Fores cluster involving Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, and the Rengas cluster in Perak.

The Mampulut cluster, which was detected in Keningau, Sabah, involved an index case who tested positive after a symptomatic screening on Oct 31.

Close contact screenings found another 27 positive cases, while a total of 181 people have tested negative so far.

The Fores cluster was traced back to Petaling, Gombak and Klang in Selangor as well as Kepong in Kuala Lumpur. The first case tested positive for Covid-19 on Oct 17 and close contact screenings identified 19 other cases.

As of noon, 190 people were screened, with 70 testing negative and 100 still awaiting results.

The Rengas cluster, located in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, began when an individual was found positive through a symptomatic screening on Nov 4. Following close contact screenings, seven other cases were detected.

A total of 290 people have been screened, with 281 individuals still waiting for their test results.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said 48 other active clusters in the country recorded new infections in the last 24 hours.

The Tawau temporary detention centre cluster, also known as the PTS Tawau cluster, recorded the most cases with 372 Covid-19 infections today.

It was followed by the Sandakan prison cluster with 184 and the Seberang Perai prison cluster with 162 infections. All other active clusters recorded less than 60 cases each.

He also announced that the Bah Lada cluster in Perak, Atap cluster in Sabah and Bah Sahabat cluster in Terengganu have ended, after no new positive cases were detected in these three clusters after 28 days.
