
The PPP series was open for bidding online from Nov 5 and ended on Nov 9. The three highest bids were: PPP 1 – RM260,000; PPP 9 – RM160,000; and PPP 6 – RM140,000.
Other high bids garnered were for PPP 7 (RM120,000), PPP 888 (RM110,000) and PPP 999 — which had 28 bidders — at RM106,000.
At a press conference at JPJ’s Penang headquarters in Seberang Jaya today, its deputy director-general of planning and operations Zamakhshari Hanipah said there were only 4,917 bidders for the PPP series, with 5,082 yet to be taken up.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported Zamakhshari as saying that the department collected RM203.88 million since the implementation of its JPJeBid online vehicle number plate bidding system in April last year.
He said the collections involved 158 series of vehicle registration number plates which were opened to the public for bidding nationwide.
“From April until December last year, JPJ collected RM61.96 million in bids for 54 series of vehicle registration number plates and from January until yesterday we have collected RM141.92 million, involving 104 series of bidding.”
