1,114 Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths
Another 803 patients have been discharged, with active cases now at 12,131.
PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 1,114 Covid-19 cases and two deaths in the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 803 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 33,772.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the 1,114 cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 46,209.
There are currently 12,131 patients being treated. One hundred and three are in the intensive care unit, with 43 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the two deaths bring the toll to 306.
The deceased were a Malaysian man, aged 51, and woman, 78, who passed away at Hospital Queen Elizabeth in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
The man had high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic kidney disease, and the woman also suffered from osteoarthritis.
There were two imported cases today, involving a Malaysian and a foreigner entering the country from Indonesia and Jordan.
Sabah made up the majority of the new cases with 391, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 371. The Klang Valley recorded 217 cases, with 199 in Selangor, 13 in Kuala Lumpur and four in Putrajaya.
These cases were detected from new and existing clusters as well as close contact and Covid-19 screening.
Perak reported 53 new cases, with 49 coming from existing clusters, three from other screenings and one from a severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) screening.
There were 34 cases in Penang, 14 in Johor, 10 in Kedah, eight in Labuan, six in Melaka, five in Kelantan and three in Sarawak.
These cases came from new and existing clusters, close contact tests and other Covid-19 screenings.
