PETALING JAYA:
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has called for political leaders to put aside their differences and unite to ensure the welfare of the people is prioritised, especially in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Muhyiddin said the political situation in Malaysia throughout 2020 has been challenging to the extent that it had affected investors’ confidence in the country.

For the new year, he urged political leaders to show maturity, especially in facing these challenging times.

“I hope other political leaders would be responsible and avoid doing anything that could disrupt the country’s political stability.

“At this time, it would be good if we can put aside our political differences and unite for the wellbeing of the rakyat. We must work together in facing this pandemic,” he said in his New Year message.

He also said that efforts to combat graft will be intensified and that greater emphasis will be placed on transparency and integrity.

“I believe that political stability and good governance will be able to create a conducive business environment and ensure Malaysia remains a major destination for investors in the Asean region and accelerate the country’s economic recovery.”

He said with the nation being a top destination for investors, it would definitely be able to generate more job opportunities that would benefit all Malaysians.

“I believe if we work and prioritise the rakyat, in return, they will continue to support us,” he added.
