7 Covid-19 clusters detected in KL, 4 states

They involve Selangor, Johor, KL, Negeri Sembilan and Perak.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has detected seven new Covid-19 clusters in Kuala Lumpur and four states, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

They are the Jalan Selayang cluster in Selangor; Tropika and Pasir Barat clusters in Johor; Dutamas construction site and Jalan Pahang clusters in Kuala Lumpur; Jalan Rantau-Siliau cluster in Negeri Sembilan; and Intan Mas cluster in Perak.

The Jalan Selayang cluster was detected in Jalan Selayang Baru, Gombak, with the first few cases found positive on Jan 13 after a screening at a supermarket. A total of 511 people have been screened with 84 testing positive.

The Tropika cluster was detected in Jalan Setia Tropika, Johor Bahru, with the index cases testing positive on Jan 9 after a screening on detainees and close contacts at a detention centre. Some 116 individuals have been screened with 55 of them found positive.

The Pasir Barat cluster involves the Johor Bahru and Kota Tinggi districts, with the index cases testing positive on Dec 21 after a screening at a project site in Pasir Gudang. A total of 781 people have been screened with 92 found positive.

The Dutamas construction site cluster was detected at Jalan Dutamas Raya, Kepong with the index cases testing positive in a screening after exhibiting symptoms. Some 91 individuals have been screened with 18 testing positive.


The Jalan Pahang cluster involves the Kepong, Titiwangsa, Lembah Pantai and Cheras districts, with the index case detected on Jan 8 in a screening after exhibiting symptoms.

The cluster is reported to have started at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, situated at Jalan Pahang. A total of 57 people have been screened with six found positive.

The Jalan Rantau-Silau cluster was detected in Port Dickson with the first few cases testing positive on Jan 10 after a screening at a factory.

The workplace is located at Jalan Rantau–Siliau in Siliau, Negeri Sembilan. Some 508 people have been screened with 96 testing positive.

Lastly, the Intan Mas cluster was detected in Taman Intan Emas in Hilir Perak with the index case found positive on Jan 8 in a screening after exhibiting symptoms. A total of 55 people have been screened with 15 found positive.

Noor Hisham also said one cluster had officially ended today, namely the Huma cluster in Kelantan. There are now 276 active clusters out of a cumulative 623.
