Johor cops tell why cafe owner was fined for not wearing mask

Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay says there were people going into the shops near the cafe at the time of the incident.

A woman in Johor took to Twitter to complain that she was fined for not wearing a mask in a cafe although it was not crowded at the time.
PETALING JAYA:
Johor police have denied the claim that a cafe owner was fined for not wearing a face mask despite her not being in a crowded public place.

The woman, from Segamat, Johor, had shared her dissatisfaction on Twitter.

She confronted the officer on why she was fined as the rules only require people to wear masks in crowded areas.

Responding to the matter, Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said people were coming and going into the shops and premises near the cafe at the time of the incident.

“On top of that, there was a cafe worker who was wearing a face mask.

“Her action in not wearing a face mask could raise the concern of the people in the area,” Ayob said in a statement.

He said police were looking at this matter seriously and will not compromise with anyone who does not comply with the SOPs set by the government.
