
This was announced in a statement from the Sabah’ chief minister’s office.
According to the statement, the former federal minister and UMS vice-chancellor Taufiq Yap Yun Hin paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, who is also one of two UMS pro-chancellors.
The university’s other pro-chancellor is Arab-Malaysian Banking Group chairman Azman Hashim.
During the meeting, Rahman informed Hajiji that he will be receiving his appointment letter from Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin soon.
He and Taufiq also briefed Hajiji on the latest developments and challenges faced by UMS.
These included students’ housing and the status of the UMS Smart Hospital building that has been delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rahman also expressed the university’s keenness to work with the state science, technology, and innovation ministry as its science and technology adviser.
