Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,340 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 192,679.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 245,552.
There are 51,977 active cases with 282 patients being treated in intensive care and 134 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 24 deaths bring the number of fatalities to 896.
The new cases today involved 3,099 local infections and one imported case.
Selangor was again the state with the highest number of cases (1,196) and the only state with four-digit infections today.
The infection figures for other states are: Johor (490), Melaka (344), Kuala Lumpur (295), Penang (209), Sabah (169), Negeri Sembilan (104), Sarawak (84), Perak (72), Kedah (37), Terengganu and Kelantan (30), Pahang (28), Putrajaya (eight) and Perlis (four).
There were 29 cases from prisons and detention centres, most of which came from DTI Sepang II (nine), Kepayan Prison (six), Tembok Renggam (four) and Tembok Sungai Udang (three) clusters.
The 24 dead today involved 21 Malaysians and three foreigners. Out of the local deaths, Selangor reported seven deaths, followed by Sabah and Sarawak with three each. Other deaths were two each from Perak and Johor, and one each from Kelantan, Melaka, Kedah and Penang.
All but one of them had existing medical conditions.
