PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating a teacher for child abuse after a video clip was widely shared showing a woman throwing a child in a classroom.
In the 10-second long video clip, the woman is seen lifting a child before throwing the child to the floor in front of a group of surprised children.
The incident is believed to have happened at a nursery in Klang, and it is understood the teacher has since been suspended.
Shah Alam police chief Baharudin Mat Taib confirmed that a police report was lodged by the parents and that the case is being investigated, Astro Awani reported.
Baharudin added that the woman was brought in for questioning after the child’s parents lodged the report.
Child abuse is an offence under the Child Act punishable with a fine of up to RM20,000 or 10 years’ jail or both.
