Stab victim found in padi field was college student, say police

Kelantan police have confirmed that the body of a 19-year-old woman found with 61 stab wounds in Terengganu early this morning is that of a college student.

Bernama reported state police chief Yusoff Mamat as saying the 19-year-old victim from Perak was a third-semester student at a local college.

He said police are actively tracking down those involved, and that the motive for the murder is still under investigation.

Yusoff was earlier reported as saying the woman was identified through her fingerprints, as no identification documents were found on the body.

Members of the public reported the discovery of the body at about 12.30am.

Yusoff said police suspect the woman was killed at another location before her body was dumped near a padi field in Kampung Simah, Ketereh.
