Postmen who go from door-to-door delivering letters and parcels will also be delivering flyers on the need to be vaccinated.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme’s coordinating minister, Khairy Jamaluddin announced today partnerships aimed at providing information about the vaccine and to increase its registration rate ahead of the second and third phases of vaccinations in April and May respectively.
“One thing Pos Malaysia has, which no other corporation or agency has, is its ubiquitousness. There is a Pos Malaysia office everywhere in Malaysia,” he said, adding that the national postal service will focus on rural areas and states with low vaccine registration rates.
He added that using Pos Malaysia will mean no extra cost for the government.
Khairy, who is science, technology and innovation minister, said the government will also be cooperating with companies such as Grab and Parkson to boost awareness of the immunisation programme.
Grab will be offering a direct link to the MySejahtera app on its own app, and discussions are also underway to map out vaccination centres on the Grab app.
Parkson will open vaccination registration counters in 40 branches and information booths in 20 branches across the country.
Khairy also announced a partnership with sports marketing company Living Minds to promote the vaccine on social media through 12 local footballers who will serve as “vaccine ambassadors”.
St John Ambulance of Malaysia, meanwhile, are set to provide medical staff and ambulances at vaccination centres.
