2,733 Covid-19 cases, 13 deaths

There were 25,414 active cases with 294 patients being treated in intensive care.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 2,733 Covid-19 cases and 13 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,019 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 371,575.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 398,451.

There are 25,414 active cases, with 294 patients being treated in intensive care and 138 needing respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 13 deaths take the number of fatalities to 1,462.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 750. This was followed by Kelantan (484), Sarawak (432), Kuala Lumpur (377), Johor (220), Penang (115), Sabah (82), Terrenganu (61), Kedah (51), Negeri Sembilan (39), Perak (38), Pahang (35), Melaka (33) Putrajaya (15) and Perlis (1).

Labuan did not record any new cases today.

The new cases today involved 2,728 local infections and five imported cases. Local cases comprised 2,481 Malaysians and 247 foreigners.

There were 36 cases from prisons and detention centres today, namely the Pagar Sri Lalang Cluster (29) and DTI Lenggeng Cluster (7).

The 13 deaths today involved 12 Malaysians and one foreigner, aged between 23 and 83. All but three had existing medical conditions.
