
In a statement, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the EMCO will affect all blocks at Pangsapuri Permai as well as Block C and D at Pangsapuri Sri Penara until June 10.
This follows a drastic increase in the number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the two localities over the past 10 days, with a total of 189 cases so far.
Meanwhile, a few localities in the Raub and Temerloh districts in Pahang will also be placed under the EMCO from Friday until June 10.
Ismail said these are Taman Dato’ Tengku Paris and Felda Tersang 1, 2 and 3, both in the Batu Talam subdistrict in Raub and also the Perak and Bangau subdistricts in Temerloh.
A total of 22 cases were identified at all the localities in Raub while 180 cases were identified at the subdistricts in Temerloh.
Meanwhile, in Sabah, Ismail announced EMCOs at localities in Kunak, Kota Belud and Tawau.
Residents of Kampung Kabog, Kampung Kabog Baru, Kampung Kunak Darat and Kampung Kunak 3 in Kunak, Kampung Pirasan Ulu in Kota Belud, and also Kampung Sungai Pukul, Taman Desa Ranggu and Taman Sawit Balung in Tawau will face a total lockdown from Friday until June 10.
This follows a spike in Covid-19 cases and increasing community transmissions there.
On other areas, Ismail said the EMCO affecting Rumah Awam Kos Rendah Pelagat 3 in Besut, Terengganu will be extended to June 4.
He said the health ministry reported active transmissions among the residents there. There are 42 Covid-19 cases from 313 screenings so far.
Meanwhile, the EMCO at the Sungai Batu miner’s quarters at Batu Talam, Raub, Pahang will end tomorrow as scheduled. There were 21 cases in total.
Meanwhile, Ismail said the police arrested 628 individuals for breaching movement control order SOPs yesterday. Out of this number, 609 were fined and 19 were remanded.
Among the offences were for not wearing face mask (162), failure to record personal details or check in with MySejahtera (158), failure to comply with MCO regulations (80), crossing state/district borders without police permission (61), flouting physical-distancing rules (47), and others (120).
