Officer who issued compounds without mask faces action

The police are tracking down the 39-year-old man after a report was lodged against him.

PETALING JAYA:
An enforcement officer in Pasir Mas, Kelantan will be punished after he was photographed not wearing a face mask when issuing a compound to street vendors in Rantau Panjang yesterday.

Pasir Mas district police chief, Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir said action will be taken against the officer under Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021 for not wearing a face mask in a public area.

He said police are tracking down the 39-year-old man to face immediate action, after receiving a report against him.

At the time of the incident, Nasaruddin said the enforcement officer was issuing compounds to street vendors who were doing business at an unauthorised location near the Beijing Mosque in Rantau Panjang without a face covering.

“The viral photo has stirred unhappiness among the community because the enforcement officer didn’t wear a face mask while carrying out his duty, “ he was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.
