PETALING JAYA:
Police have recorded a statement from the alleged victim in celebrity preacher Ebit Lew’s sexual harassment case, Bukit Aman confirmed today.

Criminal investigation department (CID) director Abd Jalil Hassan confirmed the matter to Utusan Malaysia but refused to reveal the alleged victim’s identity.

He said the investigations were still going on and his officers were waiting for more witnesses to step forward.

“There is still no new development (on the case),” Jalil was reported saying.

Last Thursday, Lew was summoned to Bukit Aman for purposes of the police’s probe.

“I was at Bukit Aman in my capacity as a witness to assist the investigation into allegations and gossip against me. I will leave it to the police to investigate the matter further,” he had said then.

Lew said police recorded his statement for more than an hour and he had given his full cooperation.

He also said he forgave all those who have made these allegations against him.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
