PETALING JAYA: Thirteen police personnel, two firemen and an army commando were among 62 people caught merrymaking midday on Saturday in breach of Covid-19 restrictions.
The episode at an entertainment venue in Bandar Puchong Jaya has caused further embarrassment to the police force.
It involved one corporal, six lance corporals and six constables, including a woman traffic constable. They are in various units in different stations.
In recent months, the police force has had to deal with its men, including senior officers, involved in wild parties.
The most prominent case occurred in July when the Bangi police station chief and three corporals turned the base into a “disco”, complete with marijuana, ketum water, liquor, women, pornography, song and dance.
A source said the army commando with the rank of sergeant is an escort for a top army officer at the defence ministry while the two fire and rescue department officers are stationed in Bukit Jalil and Pudu.
The offenders are expected to be suspended pending investigation by their respective departments for infractions such as misconduct and bringing the name of the uniformed services to disrepute.
Police said 25 women and eight employees were among those detained. The youngest person was 17-years-old.
Officers from Selangor police’s integrity and standards compliance department (JIPS) were part of the raid at 1.40pm.
Police said the premises was dark with loud music with the customers drinking alcohol. One person tested positive for methamphetamine.
The 62 revellers were each slapped with a RM5,000 compound notice for Covid-19 SOP violations.
Police seized liquor bottles, several cartons of beer, a deejay deck, speakers and audio equipment, among other items.
