“Today I received a visit from former prime minister Najib Razak. At this hour-long meeting, we discussed domestic and foreign economic challenges, including strategies to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Najib is committed to contributing his time, energy and ideas as a team for the sake of the Malaysian Family,” Ismail said in a Facebook post yesterday.
Meanwhile, Najib said his meeting with Ismail was to discuss the economic situation and the steps that should be taken next.
“From a macro point of view and overall, we are already far behind compared to our neighbouring countries. Malaysia no longer has the attractiveness of foreign investors after 2018,” he said in a separate Facebook post.
“From a micro point of view which involves the people, many do not have confidence in our economy. In fact, there are concerns about their needs, income and job stability.”
He hoped that his suggestions, strategies and experience would be taken into consideration.
