In a brief statement, the anti-graft agency noted that opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim had raised the matter in the Dewan Rakyat.
“We would like to call upon Anwar Ibrahim to cooperate with us if he has further details about the matter.”
Earlier this month, Anwar had submitted a motion in Parliament to debate the Pandora Papers.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Harun however said he did not find the exposé that urgent a matter for debate.
Earlier today, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng slammed the MACC, accusing it of turning a blind eye towards the Pandora Papers leak.
Lim, who is Bagan MP, said despite the public pressure from opposition MPs, the MACC had “stubbornly refused” to launch an investigation into the matter.
This evening, police said they had opened two investigation papers on the leaked documents.
The information leak is the biggest of its kind, and involves nearly 12 million documents and other records from offshore service providers who help set up and manage shell companies around the world.
Among those who have been linked to it include finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, PKR’s William Leong as well as parents of fugitive financier Low Taek Jho.
