Former Sabah chief minister Salleh Said Keruak said the country was now moving towards a two-party system and the voters should therefore choose a party that can form the government.
“Time is short, we need a party with a clear plan and good communication,” he said in a Facebook post.
Salleh said that to date, both Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan have unveiled their manifestos and their respective choices for chief minister for Melaka.
He went on to say that BN was aspiring to be the best, which is why it had a good mix of candidates with good track records.
“Time has also shown that BN can change for the better.”
Yesterday, BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the 28 candidates the coalition was fielding was proof of BN’s political narrative, which is based on racial harmony.
Prior to that, Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin said BN was now able to return to a “moderate, multicultural and progressive” path following PAS’ decision to break away from its pact with Umno and contest under the Perikatan Nasional banner.
The Melaka polls will be held on Nov 20.
