JOHOR BAHRU:
Barisan Nasional (BN) has pledged to continue giving all assemblymen equal allocations regardless of party should it form the next Johor government.

Johor BN chief Hasni Mohammad launched the manifesto for the state elections today, themed “Stability for the Future”.

The manifesto focuses on spurring the economy, the people’s welfare, the youth of Johor, governance with integrity and political reforms.

Hasni also said BN would conduct a redelineation exercise if it had a two-thirds majority, especially for constituencies with a high number of voters.

“As part of BN’s push for political reforms, it will maintain the annual allocation of RM200,000 each for government and opposition assemblymen alike.

“Johor BN has one goal, for the state to prosper with the support of a new political narrative that is both mature and stable,” he said.

Hasni said the coalition intends to restore Johor’s economic prowess within the next five years through nine initiatives that will boost the state’s economy.

“This includes channelling funds and various support to small- and medium-enterprises (SMEs) who have been greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

“To achieve this, BN will implement three main initiatives, including a RM100 million interest-free loan and various annual financial assistance from Bank Rakyat.”

He said BN would also look to bridge the income gap by implementing annual financial assistance of RM150 to each primary and secondary school student from families with a household income of RM3,001 to RM7,000, among other initiatives.

To develop the potential of Johor’s youth and create opportunities for them, BN would also provide annual financial assistance of RM500 to students from B40 families, Hasni added.

As for cultivating good governance, he said the coalition would ensure integrity and accountability within its machinery through various key initiatives.

“Among them is for every state assemblyman in Johor to declare their property and assets to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC),” he said.
