Wangsa Maju district police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the police have allowed anti-war protests in the name of human rights.
He said such activities are not allowed under Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) but the police understand that there are extenuating circumstances.
“Actually, we don’t allow a protest as the country is still under Phase 4 (of the NRP) but, at the same time, we understand this protest involves human rights.
“So, if anyone wants to hold a protest, please inform the police first so that we can advise them and facilitate the event,” he told reporters.
Ashari said that one of the conditions imposed on the event organisers is that the protest should not take more than 20 minutes.
So far, he said, three groups – Ukrainian students, the Ukrainian embassy staff, and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) – have held separate protests in front of the Russian embassy.
PSM was the latest group that held a protest.
