Tompel’s son Amran dies at 72 after long illness

The actor and comedian had been bedridden for a long time with various illnesses.

Actor and comedian Amran Aman Ramli, better known as Amran Tompel, 72, has died after a long battle with various illnesses.

Amran was the son of comedian and director AR Tompel, who made a name for himself in the 1960s. He is survived by four children, aged between 22 and 29 years.

His second son, Shafiq Amran, 28, said his father had been bedridden for a long time due to various illnesses including high blood pressure, diabetes and stroke.

“Even though my father had been sick for a long time, he could still talk and understand when people spoke to him. It was only in the last three to four days that he lost his appetite.

Amran’s youngest son was with him when he died this afternoon at the home of one of his sons in Senawang. Amran is expected to be buried tomorrow.
