Keep PKR elections clean, says Rafizi

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli says the party polls should not be tainted by emotions, personal attacks, or campaigns based on ‘revelations’.

Rafizi Ramli said candidates should be judged on their contributions to the party.
PETALING JAYA:
Rafizi Ramli has called for the upcoming PKR elections to be “clean”, with each member allowed to choose a leader based on a personal assessment of their performance.

In a statement, the former Pandan MP said the election should not be tainted by emotions, personal attacks, or campaigns based on “revelations”.

“I am aware of candidates who say they are the party president’s choice and give the impression that if you do not vote for them, you’re not loyal to the president,” he said.

He said such campaigns should be stopped immediately.

The achievements of a candidate should be based solely on his support for the party’s struggle and actions, according to Rafizi.

He added by voting through the ADIL mobile phone app it will help reduce the influence of “warlords” within the party.

Rafizi and secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail are in a straight fight for the PKR deputy president’s post.

Other straight fights are expected for the post of Wanita PKR chief and PKR Youth chief.

The party elections will be held from May 13 to 18.
