Judge Jamil Hussin granted the temporary release of the passport from July 8 to Aug 11 after deputy public prosecutor Afzainizam Abdul Aziz did not raise any objection.
In his application, Shafee said he wanted to have his daughter transferred back to a school in Malaysia.
He is required to return his passport by Aug 12.
Co-counsel Wee Yeong Kang appeared for Shafee.
Shafee’s passport was surrendered to the court in September 2018, after he was charged with four counts of money laundering over RM9.5 million allegedly from former prime minister Najib Razak between September 2013 and February 2014.
Of the four charges, two charges were related to making inaccurate statements to the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) for the 2013 and 2014 assessment years.
The hearing will resume on Sept 15.
