Wong noted that several facts in the governance, procurement and finance investigation committee’s 2019 report were erased by the prime minister’s department (PMD) – under which the committee operates.
“Notwithstanding, PAC is still of the stand that the redaction of the information is unnecessary as the details regarding the directors and shareholders of Boustead Holdings Bhd, Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd and Perstim Industries Sdn Bhd that were redacted is public information and can be found through a search with the Companies Commission of Malaysia,” he said in a statement.
Earlier, Wong attached a letter dated today from senior deputy secretary-general in the PMD, Sollehuddin Alyubi Zakaria, to the PAC secretariat informing the PAC that the report has been declassified.
However, Sollehuddin said that paragraph 2.39.1, 2.39.2, 2.39.4, Schedule 9, Schedule 10, Schedule 11 and Schedule 18 were erased upon the advice of the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
In his statement, Wong said PAC was still awaiting the forensic audit report done by Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (BNS) to be declassified in line with an Aug 10 Cabinet decision.
He said the JKSTUPKK report on the LCS project can be accessed at https://www.parlimen.gov.my/pac/review/docs-257-317.pdf.
PAC had called for these two reports to be declassified when outlining its recommendations in its own report into the LCS project.
Released on Aug 4, the PAC report disclosed that the government had paid RM6.08 billion for five ships to be delivered by August this year, but not a single one of them had been delivered.
